How Easy Is It to Get Started?
Starting with Global HSE is quick and hassle-free. Simply complete our short registration form and provide a copy of your photo ID. You can enrol and begin any day of the year. Our assessors are flexible and can carry out your induction outside of normal working hours, meaning you can get started immediately without disrupting your job.
How Fast Can You Complete Your NVQ?
The timeframe depends on how quickly you can gather evidence, but motivated learners working closely with their assessor often complete in just a few weeks.
Unlike many providers, Global HSE holds Direct Claim Status (DCS) – meaning your certificate can be claimed immediately after IQA sign-off without waiting for external delays. This ensures a faster completion and certification process than most centres.
How Does This NVQ Lead to IOSH Membership?
On completion of the Level 3 NVQ, you can apply for TechIOSH membership with IOSH. This provides professional recognition as a Technical Member and demonstrates your competence in health and safety. From here, you can progress to:
- Level 6 NVQ in Health & Safety → leading to CertIOSH membership
- Level 7 NVQ in Strategic Health & Safety Leadership → supporting your development towards CMIOSH (Chartered Membership)
What Will You Do During the NVQ?
Your NVQ is completed 100% online through our secure e-portfolio system – and there are no exams at all. You will:
- Upload workplace evidence (e.g., risk assessments, audits,COSHH documents, meeting minutes).
- Answer knowledge questions (either written or via professional discussion with your assessor).
- Gain a witness testimony from your line manager.
- Write reflective accounts or short case studies about your role.
- Take part in a professional discussion with your assessor to confirm competence.
- Every step is supported with 1:1 guidance and quick feedback from qualified CMIOSH and CertIOSH assessors
Which Units Will You Study?
The ProQual Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety requires learners to complete six mandatory units and one optional unit.
Mandatory Units
1. Investigate and evaluate health and safety incidents and complaints in the workplace
2. Ensure responsibility for actions to reduce risks to health and safety
3. Develop procedures to safely control work operations
4. Monitor procedures to safely control work operations
5. Promote a culture of health and safety in the workplace
6. Conduct a health and safety risk assessment of the workplace

Is the NVQ completed online or in person?
It’s completed 100% online through our secure e-portfolio. Upload evidence, track progress, and talk directly with your assessor.
There are no exams or classroom sessions, making it fully flexible around your work.
Who will assess me and how will I be supported?
You’ll be supported by a qualified assessor (CMIOSH/CertIOSH) with industry experience who will:
