The NEBOSH International General Certificate is assessed through two units, designed to test both your understanding of health and safety and your ability to apply it in real workplace situations.
IG1 – Open Book Examination (OBE)
A real workplace risk assessment project carried out in your own workplace or a chosen environment.
You must identify hazards, evaluate risks, and recommend effective control measures, supported by a clear action plan.
Marked as Pass / Refer based on NEBOSH criteria.
Estimated completion time: approximately 3 hours.
IG2 Submission Timeline
Closing Interview (Mandatory – IG1 Only)
A short online interview is conducted only for IG1 after you submit your Open Book Examination. This interview takes place through Zoom or Microsoft Teams and is recorded to verify your identity and confirm that the submitted IG1 exam is your own work.

NEBOSH stands for the National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health (UK)
It’s a UK-based organization that awards internationally recognized health, safety, and environmental (HSE) qualifications—like NEBOSH IGC and NEBOSH Diploma—used for jobs such as Safety Officer, HSE Advisor, and HSE Manager
Pretty much anyone can enroll in a NEBOSH course—there’s no strict eligibility for most entry-level NEBOSH qualifications
